The November Juice Box

It’s the penultimate delivery of the year for our wine club subscribers. (Side note: where has this year gone?) Together we have tried 60+ different cans, and counting. This month we have even more new cans from our producers which we think you’re going to love.

First of all, we need to talk about The Copper Crew. They used to make some of our favourite South African wines (anyone remember the Pinotage? Delicious.) They have recently launched an incredible selection of organic, Italian wines. This month, we are sending all our Juice Box subscribers a can of their Fiano. It’s fresh and bright, hailing from the sun-drenched region of Puglia. It’s fruity on the palate with tropical lychee, white blossom and apple aromas. It’s a blend of 85% Fiano, 25% Verdeca/Flaghina/Moscato.

Bowl Grabber are also back in Brixton Wine Club with a new duo of frizzante cans from Portugal. Their white wine is crisp and light-bodied with added bubbles. It's made from a blend of Loureiro, Arinto and Trajadura grapes which are used in the making of Vinho Verde wines. Expect notes of melon, pear and citrus blossom with high acidity. This particular can is not currently available on the website, but their new rosé wine is.

Low-intervention wines are a huge trend in the wine industry and we are excited to bring you some in can form. Hands Off are leading the pack of low-intervention canned wines with their expanding range from various producers across Europe. If you’re looking to try a low-intervention white wine, their Hands Off The White Wine is a great place to start. It’s made using the Muscat of Alexandria grape variety in Spain. On the nose, there are floral notes, citrus and apricot. Need a food pairing for this wine? It pairs excellently with seafood and semi-hard cheeses.

November is a month for red wine and rather appropriately, we have included three for our wine subscribers. First up is Vinca’s organic red wine. Similarly to their white and rosé wines, it comes from Sicily. It’s made from a blend of 80% Nero D'Avola and 20% Frappato grapes that are native to the island. It’s a lovely, juicy wine with a dried strawberry and pomegranate finish. This is the perfect pizza-pairing wine.

Our next red wine is very different in style. Hailing from Central Otago in New Zealand, it’s a Pinot Noir from New Zealand. Notoriously tricky to grow, Pinot Noir is nicknamed ‘the heartbreak grape’ by growers. This one from JOIY is full of violets and cherries with some herbal hints of thyme, too. It feels youthful and is a great red wine to try slightly chilled. If you prefer your red wines on the lighter side, Pinot Noir is your go-to grape.

The final can for our wine subscription holders is a full-bodied and warming one. It’s an Old Vine Garnacha by the Canned Wine Co. A blend of 90% Garnacha and 10% Syrah hailing from Aragon in Spain. It’s full of aromas of chocolate-coated cherries and cassis with vanilla spice. The tannins are smooth tannins, the palate warming and there’s a lovely touch of almond on the finish.
