A can of red muscadel wine from South Africa made by The Liberator

The Liberator

The Liberator is on a mission to rescue exceptional wines that might otherwise be lost. Not a superhero in a cape, but a Cape crusader in a well-worn Harris Tweed jacket, Rick, the man behind The Liberator, hunts down overlooked wines—whether experimental batches or unique leftovers from top winemakers—and brings them to a better home.

Where do their wines come from?

Over the past 25 years, Richard Kelley (a Master Of Wine) has become one of the most respected authorities on South African wine both in the UK and internationally.

From 1995 to 2002, he lived and worked in the Cape, witnessing the rebirth of the post-apartheid wine industry. During this time, he built strong relationships with key figures in the local wine scene, gaining access to some of the most distinguished cellars in the region.
