9 reasons why a canned wine subscription is the best type of wine subscription

So, you’re in the market for a brand new wine subscription and you’re trawling the internet. Perhaps you’re looking for a gift for somebody else or you want to treat yourself, there are so many different options out there. It can feel a little overwhelming but fear not - we’re going to make life easier and tell you why we think canned wine subscriptions are the best kind of wine subscription.

Wine Subscription

1. You get to try so many different wines and learn what you like without committing to a whole bottle.

Not sure if you’re going to enjoy a bottle of ‘insert-obscure-grape-variety-here’? With cans, you don’t have to! Cans are the perfect introduction to a new grape variety or style of wine. There’s such a big range of cans now that you’re bound to find something you haven’t tried in a canned wine subscription.

2. Canned wine is better for the planet.

There is no denying that a canned wine subscription is so much better for the planet than a glass bottle wine subscription. This is because aluminium is the most recycled material on the planet and has an 80% lighter carbon footprint than glass. Canned wine takes up less space than bottles which is really important when shipping wine around the world - think how many more cans would fit inside a lorry than bottles? A lot!

3. Canned wine subscriptions are a purse-friendly solution.

Generally speaking, wine prices vary hugely depending on what you’re into and wine subscriptions are no exception. Having said that, canned wine subscriptions are a wallet-friendly, money-saving way to try out new wines. I did a little bit of research and found that your average bottled wine subscriptions tend to start at around £40 per month whereas Brixton Wine Club’s canned wine subscriptions begin at just £19 a month, including postage!

4. The labels are amazing.

Nothing grabs our attention like a beautifully designed can of wine. Each brand has gone for a really different look with its wine labels. From minimalistic to textured, high-drama labels - it’s hard to pick a favourite. Many are designed by actual artists making them even more special. We’ve had customers keep their cans after drinking them and re-purposed them into cacti planters because they loved them so much!

5. Cans are ready to drink.

And at a moment’s notice. No corkscrew? No problem. You don’t need any fancy wine accessories or a specific wine fridge to enjoy canned wine. Drink them straight from the can or if you have a glass to hand, pour it out to enjoy the colour and aromas.

6. Canned wine tastes great.

Canned wine has come a long way from being a convenience item with the focus shifting towards better quality juice. Many of the canned wines in our subscriptions have won awards when compared to bottled wines. Even a Master of Wine can’t tell the difference between wine from a can and wine from a bottle in a blind taste test.

7. Cans are portable.

Anywhere you go, canned wine can go, too which can’t be said for glass bottles. They fit perfectly into back pockets and handbags alike. What’s not to like about that?

8. Canned wine is the perfect serve.

Cans of wine contain up to 250ml of wine, which is a small or large glass of wine. (Depending on who you’re talking to.) For many, myself included, this is the perfect-sized drink to pair with dinner and avoids having to open a bottle. This serving size is especially handy if you regularly pour wine down the drain because the bottle has been open for too long and the wine has gone off. Sometimes a bottle is just too much for the occasion and this makes for another win for canned wine subscriptions.

9. Canned wine has the “wow” factor.

It might be an up-trending thing in the wine industry, but canned wine still surprises people. This is why a canned wine subscription

“Wow, I didn’t know wine came in cans!”

“Wow, this tastes really good.”

“Wow, this canned wine is amazing.”

“Wow, I wasn’t expecting that.”

You get the picture!

So there we have it! Our ‘canifesto’ for canned wine subscriptions. If you’ve been swayed by these 9 reasons, then please do check out Brixton Wine Club’s subscription boxes. If you’re still on the fence, why not order a wine tasting kit and try it out before you commit to a monthly wine subscription?
